Terms and Conditions 2016/2017

 

Requirements for all guests:

A valid ID is required for all guests at check in. It is not possible to stay at The bulldog without a valid, government issued identification.

The Minimum age to enter or stay at The Bulldog Hotel is 18 years of age or older. People under the age of 18 are not permitted on the premises even if accompanied by an adult.

No pets/animals are permitted on the premises. Strictly no sleeping bags are permitted in the rooms.

The Bulldog Hotel is for international travelers. We do not accept travelers without luggage.

 

Payments:

All payments are due on arrival. Guests cannot enter the rooms until the full amount due is paid.

All payments are per booking number. It is not possible to split payments of a single booking. We advise to arrange for a single person to make the payment on arrival.

 

Payment Methods:

Cash:  We accept Euro’s (€) only. It is not possible to pay in other currencies.

Credit Cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express.

Prices include VAT (9%) and City Tax (5%).

 

Reservations:

The maximum booking length for all reservations is 10 days. Maximum reservation size is 6 persons.  Combination bookings (multiple room bookings for more than 6 people) that attempt to circumvent this rule may result in the cancellation of the bookings on arrival.

We have a two night Minimum stay on the weekend (for all bookings that include a Friday or Saturday night stay)

All Reservations (by telephone, email, online or otherwise) require a valid credit card number, email address and nationality at the time of booking. Online booking sites may require additional information.

Travel agents and agencies may NOT book accommodation for clients using The Bulldog Hotel online booking engine. Travel agents or agencies wishing to book accommodation at The Bulldog Hotel for their clients must contact us directly.

Reservations made in this manner will be considered null and void; the responsible travel agent/agency will be blacklisted and, where applicable, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

 

Confirmations:

All reservations receive a booking confirmation number. (eg: 79-XXXXX). If you do not have a booking confirmation number, you do not have a booking. If you have not received a booking confirmation, and believe you have made a reservation, please email us immediately at info@bulldoghotel.com.  Guests should be able to provide their booking confirmation number at check-in.

Guests booking through online travel agencies (OTA’s) will receive booking confirmations from the respective agency.  Changes and cancellations should be made through the agency used to book at The Bulldog Hotel.

 

Credit Cards:

The credit card holder agrees that the credit card provided during the reservation process may be used as a security deposit for the booking. In the event of damage or unacceptable behavior, the cardholder agrees that THE BULLDOG HOTEL AMSTERDAM can charge this card for the estimated cost of extra cleaning, repair or replacement of damaged items. In all cases should guests inform us immediately in case of (any) found damage as soon as they enter their room for the first time.

We reserve the right to refuse reservations if the given credit card or personal information is incorrect or false.  If the credit card information provided becomes null or void (eg- theft, loss of card), it is the guests responsibility to notify The Bulldog Hotel of said changes prior to the arrival date. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of your reservation without notification.

 

Cancellations:

Cancellations and changes to bookings can be made up to 72 hours prior to arrival at the hotel without penalty.  Cancellations can be made by email to info@bulldoghotel.com from the address used at the time of booking.  We do not accept cancellations by telephone.

All email cancellations will receive a cancellation confirmation reply from The Bulldog Hotel. This cancellation form will serve as proof of cancellation in case of dispute. If you have not received this reply, your booking has not been cancelled.

Bookings made via www.bulldoghotel.com can also be cancelled by using the online reservation system.  Your booking number and last name are required for this process.  You will receive an automated cancellation confirmation.

Combination bookings (multiple room bookings for more than 6 people) that attempt to circumvent the maximum reservation size will result in the cancellation of the bookings.  If a combination booking is cancelled on arrival, you will still be subject to the late cancellation procedure below.

IMPORTANT:

Cancellation procedures mentioned at Online Booking Agents (OTA’S) like Hostelworld.com, Gomio.com, Hostelsclub.com, Hostelbookers.com etc. are NOT valid when you book accommodation in the Bulldog Hotel. The cancellation policy above overrides any policy listed on OTA websites.

 

Late Cancellations/ No-Show:

Cancellations made later than 72 hours prior to arrival or failure to arrive for a confirmed booking will result in the FULL AMOUNT OF THE FIRST NIGHT OF YOUR BOOKING BEING CHARGED TO THE CREDIT CARD PROVIDED.

The Bulldog Hotel is not responsible for cancellations or altered reservations due to guest input error, flight cancellations, strikes, war, fire, floods, or other acts of God and will charge the full amount of the first night in case of a late cancellation or a no-show.

 

Prepayments:

It is possible to pay for the entirety of your booking prior to arrival by credit card only.  For prepayment by credit card, please contact robert@bulldoghotel.com and include your booking confirmation number. We do not accept prepayments within 7 days of arrival.

The Bulldog Hotel will provide refunds on pre-paid bookings, provided  they have followed the procedures listed in the “cancellations” section of the Terms and Conditions. Within 72 hours of arrival, we do not provide any refunds on pre-paid bookings. 

 

Visa Applications:

We do not fax or send letters for visa applications as misuse is quite often the case.  Visa applications are only provided when the full amount of the first night of the booking is paid in advance. This is a non-refundable payment. Failure to secure a Visa does not constitute grounds for refund. 

The Bulldog Hotel will endeavor to provide Visa applications within 7 days of receipt of the request. Requests for Visa applications can be sent to info@bulldoghotel.com

 

Group Bookings and information:

The bulldog Hotel is a perfect place to book groups. All bookings larger than 6 persons are considered group bookings. Bookings for more than 6 people that are not made through our groups department risk being cancelled without notification (see cancellation policy above). Cancellation procedures for group bookings deviate from standard bookings as follows:

Groups (7-12 persons) 7 days prior to arrival and only per email.
Groups (>12 persons) 28 days prior to arrival and only per email.


Dormitory rooms booked as private rooms for groups are sold per room.  Cancellation of individual beds inside the aforementioned cancellation period will not alter the price. The Bulldog Hotel will not place individuals into a room booked for a private group.  It is therefore the responsibility of the group to pay for all beds in this room for the duration of their stay, unless agreed with management prior to arrival at The Bulldog Hotel

The Bulldog Hotel may ask groups for a security deposit through pre authorization to the credit card provided prior to arrival. 

 

Minimum Stays:

Please note, the Bulldog Hotel has minimum stay requirements for bookings. 

Friday/Saturday -  2 days miniumum stay for all bookings which include a Friday or Saturday night.

New years Eve:  4 days minimum stay for bookings whcih include Dec 29th, 30th, 31st and 1st of Jan.

Kingsday/Kingsnight:  4 days Minimum Stay for bookings which include April 26th (Kingsnight) and/or April 27th (Kingsday)

 

Discounts/packages:

It is not possible to get (any) discount after the payment at check in or for prepaid bookings.  Guests are responsible for asking for applicable discounts prior to payment. We do not provide refunds for discounts.

It is not allowed to combine discounts. If more than one discount is applicable, The Bulldog will provide the guest with the discount that offers them the largest savings.

Please note that not all discounts and packages are available during the High Season (May 15-Sept 14)

 

Lost & Found:

Items lost or found in the hotel will be kept for one week after departure date. Highly Valuable items (such as smartphones, laptops, tablets etc.) will be kept for a longer period.

Please contact robert@bulldoghotel.com for all lost and found enquiries.  Please note that we cannot always guarantee the recovery of forgotten items.

The Bulldog Hotel will assist in sending your forgotten items to your home country or to an alternate accommodation. In addition to postal and packaging charges, there is a €10.00 administrative fee for this service.  Payments for Lost and found postage can be made via paypal or credit card.

 

Security Cards:

At check in, all guests will receive a Bulldog Hotel Security card. In addition to providing basic hotel information, room numbers, bed and locker numbers, this card is used to access the Bulldog Hotel 24/7.  All guests must keep their Security pass with them for the duration of their stay at The Bulldog Hotel.

It is required to present your pass to the reception or security each time you enter the hotel. Failure to have your pass may result in refusal to enter the Hotel.

The beds are numbered. You can find your bed number on your receipt and your security card. Staying in other beds is not allowed and could result in an extra charge.

 

Key Deposits:

All guests wishing to have their own room key are required to leave a valid identification at the reception while in possession of the key.  Any valid ID is acceptable for this (including: transportation cards, student cards, driver’s licenses, passports etc). only one member of your party is required to have a keycard.

The Bulldog Hotel will not withhold any provided ID from our guests. Guests can ask for their ID back 24 hours per day by presenting their security card and returning their keycard to the reception. Lost keycards are €5.00 for replacement.
 

Smoking:

All rooms at the Bulldog Hotel are strictly NON SMOKING.  Our Lounge Bar provides a comfortable and safe place for guests to experiment with the finest plant resins in Amsterdam. There is NO TOBACCO permitted anywhere inside the Bulldog Hotel.   Tobacco smoking is permitted only outside or on our 4th floor roof terrace (open 1100-2300, weather permitting). Marijuana/Hashish smoking is permitted in our Lounge Bar. You cannot add Tobacco!

 

Right of Refusal and Removal:

We do not accept reservations for stag nights, sport tours, soccer fans for (inter)national matches and all male groups (6 persons or more!!!).

The Bulldog Hotel reserves the right to refuse a guest or even a group  if, on arrival (and even after check in), management reasonably considers that the guest is under the influence of alcohol or hard-drugs, is unsuitably dressed,  is behaving in a threatening, abusive or otherwise unacceptable manner or fails to follow our house rules.

Guests shall behave with respect towards other guests and hostel staff and shall be held responsible for their own actions within the hostel, during their stay on the premises, and outside of the hostel. The owners of the hostel and their managers shall be absolved of any responsibility and costs in connection with the actions of its guests or visitors. 

If you do any of the below mentioned you will be checked out immediately with no refund by our linesmen proportioned security or the police
If you bring in guests other than hostel-guests in the rooms & apartments.
If you possess, bring in or use hard drugs in the hostel.
If you carry or bring in weapons.

If you cause a disturbance, annoy other guests or staff or behave in an unacceptable manner you will be removed from the hotel immediately, without refund.

 

Liability:

The Bulldog Hotel accepts no responsibilty to guests, visitors, staff or otherwise, for injury, theft, loss of property, damage to personal belongings, assault or other unlawful acts. Guests are encouraged to use the locker or safe provided for the storing of valuable items.  Expensive items, including, but not limited to: laptops, jewelery, cash etc, can be left for storage with reception.

 

Additional Information:

Check-in is guaranteed by 1500. We always try to check our guests in as early as possible.

Check-out is no later than 1100.  Late check outs may be charged €10.00 per person.

No curfew, no lock-out

Guests other than hostel guests who like to visit our bar-lounge can only be accepted when the security is present at the door. If you have friends that would like to visit, please inform the reception prior to their arrival.

 

What are your check in and checkout times?

You can check in any time around 3pm. Check out time is by 11:00 am. If you arrive before 3pm you may wait at the hotel, in our spacious, well appointed coffee shop, or in our lounge. You are also welcome to leave your luggage at the hotel until your room is ready. If your room is not ready before 3.30pm we will offer you a free drink immediately.

 

Will you really cover us in honey when we check in?

Only if it is your birthday. We would like you to provide the honey yourself. We have our own spatulas.

 

Can I have a ninja wakeup call?

Ninja wake up calls are only available as part of the Bulldog hotel holiday romance package. Details of this service are available behind the water tank in the ladies toilet on the 2nd floor. If you are interested in this offer, please bring two passport-sized photos, details of your measurements on the back of a small envelope, and the results of a recent HIV test.

 

Do you have internet access?

Yes. We have free wireless and some computers free to use. We also have alcoholic drinks and tropical fishes!

 

How do we make a reservation?

What about groups?

We have a perfect ambiance for groups but we do not accept reservations for stag nights or sport tours, soccer fans for (inter)national matches and large groups of males.
Read the above carefully because in the event of a false booking, there will be no check-in and no refund! We also advice to read Term & Conditions as we have (also to maintain this perfect ambiance) some strict rules.

 

Do I need a credit card to make a reservation?

Yes. If you do not have a credit card, please ask a friend or relative to borrow theirs. We won't charge anything to your card until you arrive, so you can decide upon arrival to pay by card or cash. Bookings made through our online service will be charged a small non-refundable fee. Please also read Terms & Conditions.

 

It is also possible to pay a deposit directly into our bank account?

Only with groups. Please contact us if you like to do this. You have to fax a copy of the transaction receipt to make your reservation final. A returned fax by our Bulldog crew is a confirmed reservation. If you want to make a large reservation (more than 20 people,) go for it!

 

Will you charge our card right away or... “I have to cancel, my au-pair got suddenly pregnant!”

We prefer cash on arrival. The Bulldog Hotel will not charge your credit card upon registration of your reservation. However you will be charged one night stay if no notice of cancellation is given 72 hours prior to booked date (so called no-show) A cancellation can only be made per email. We also charge your card for the first night if you want to stay with us during New Year's Eve.

 

How will we know if our reservation is final?

We will give you a booking number for reference. If you do not have a booking reference, you do not have a reservation. When your credit card information is not correct, the reservation is not valid without further notice.

Can we bring our dog/canary/alligator?

Pets and kids (under 18) are not allowed inside the hotel. If you like, you are welcome to tie them up outside.

 

Can I bring my own food and drinks in your Lounge/Bar?

Only when the bar is not open. You can eat/drink everything you want in our lobby!  We also have a nice roof terrace to meet in secret and enjoy your snacks and drinks.
Opening times lounge:  07:00-03:00.

 

How do we get to your hostel from the airport?

You can either take a taxi (approx. € 45.00) or a train (€ 4,00 per person.)

We recommend taxis with the sign; TCA or Schiphol Service. You can check our map and directions page for details.

 

How do I get to the hotel from the train station?

Estimated walking time, 8 to 9 minutes. For the elderly persons, ½ hour, including some wrong turns. For the pervert, you may never make it if you do not force yourself not to step inside the store with the big dildo in the window. When you exit from the front of Central Station, you will see a big street in front of you called Damrak. You can't miss it. Go down Damrak until you come to 'Dam.' This is a big square, Damsquare. Continue walking straight to the other side of the square. Here you will find a bewildered, yet wise homeless Hopi Indian. Buy him a falafel and he will give you a piece of sage advice. Turn left and keep walking until you see Damstreet. Keep walking in a very straight line, you have nearly arrived. The first canal you come to is called Oudezijds Voorburgwal. Don't waste time trying to pronounce it right away. Turn left; we are on the left side, about 100 meters up, next to the Bulldog Energy Coffeeshop.

 

We are travelling by car!

That is a nasty one. We do not have a parking garage (we would be rich by now). Parking around the hotel will costs you € 5 per hour. We advise you to park your car at:  P+R (Park&Ride). These are supervised car parks on the outskirts of the city. You can find these Amsterdam P+R locations by means of the P+R signs along the A1, A2, and the A10 ring road.  We recommend P + R Zeeburg (S114). Go direction Centre and before the tunnel turn left. Transport tickets (streetcar) are for free (maximum 5 people) and you are in 10 minutes in the Centre. You can find addtional details about parking in Amsterdam by clicking HERE.

We also have a car pick up service at the hotel (€ 21 per day)!!

 

What about the movie lounge? I like exciting films...

Do you? Our hotel is located in the heart of Amsterdam's unusual movie district. Whether you want to watch a remake of Star Wars with more goats and chickens than the original, or star in a production of your own (bring your handcuffs, apple sauce and battery operated vacuum cleaner) everything is possible here. Our hotel has a full range of studio facilities, a big darkroom, and of course, our deluxe video cockpits. Here you can choose from a very wide variety of sometimes slightly disturbing programs, 24 hours a day.
You can also challenge your new friends and play Wii!

 

What about the holiday romance package?

That can be arranged. For an additional fee we will search local cafes and bars for an exotic drunken foreigner with the scent of garlic on his/her breath and an ass to die for. The following morning (or directly after the act if you prefer,) our fully qualified receptionists will burst into your room, dressed as ninja assassins to wake you up (so you do not miss your plane) and to chase away the greasy devil that, only hours before pleasured you so exquisitely with his skillful tongue and fingers.

 

Is Breakfast included?

Yes. From 7:30-10:00 am or till it runs out, so be early. Think of your fellow traveller and stop stuffing yourself like a maniac. Also it's not allowed to build lunch packages for takeout or for the Salvation Army.

 

"Do you have a garden? I like to stare at plants.."

We are still waiting for permission to create a roof top pony trekking centre. In the mean time you are allowed to enjoy our roof terrace on the fourth floor with some colourful and tropical plants or to stare at some real Dutch clouds between 11:00-23:00

 

"Are sheets included?"

Yes! We will even make your bed! If you stay 3 nights or more we will most likely change the sheets. Towels are for free at the reception.

 

"Do you guys serve food?"

We want to be a home away from home (not seriously) for Bulldog lovers with limited funds and our cook is carefully selected to create this atmosphere. We will promise you however not to laugh when we see you eating bread with peanut butter 3 times a day for a week. Hungry? Check our Food & Drinks!

 

Is your place cool with hard drugs?

No we are not. If you possess or use hard drugs in our hostel we will check you out. Immediately. Some other tips:

1. Do not combine different kind of drugs  => 4 deadly victims each month.
2. Do not buy anything on the street  => could be poisoned heroin.
3. Never leave your glass unnoticed => imagine what could happen.
4. Hard drugs + alcohol = => can result in dehydration or heart attack.
5. Smoked too much marihuana or hash? => get fresh air. Eat a candy.
6. Be careful for fast bikes and streetcars! => they don’t break
